Hi, I’m Jamie and welcome to Mental Guitar.
I’m a guitar teacher, entrepreneur and writer from the UK with over 16 years worth of playing experience.
Which means I’ve been fiddling around with guitars for roughly half my life.
If you’re reading this – then I’m guessing you’re a guitar fiddler too.
Follow me…
Let me begin by explaining what this site is about and more importantly – why you need a bit of Mental Guitar in your life!
I’m here to do something a little different.
I want to help you become the best you can be (by totally changing your approach to learning).
There are tons of fantastic guitar resources out there dedicated to improving you as a player – but they all teach the same thing. Here’s an exercise… learn it. Here’s a chord progression… play over it. Here’s your favourite Steve Vai lick… dislocate your fingers trying to copy it.
But there is more to life (and guitar) than just blindly learning tabs. It’s only one very small aspect of the learning process and by itself, the ability to replicate your favourite riffs and solos from a sheet of music will not make you into a great guitarist.
My aim is to provide you with various methods, techniques and philosophies which you may not have encountered before. I want to drag you from your current level to where you want to be as fast as humanly possible.
So, here is a taster of what you can expect to find on Mental Guitar…
- Scientifically proven methods to improve your memory and learning speed
- Real world advice from some of the world’s greatest guitarists, artists and performers
- Fun ideas and practice methods designed to drag you out of a rut
- Motivational tools to blast away laziness and procrastination
- Confidence techniques to overcome your insecurities
- And finally – a bit of humour along the way – because if you can’t enjoy it… what’s the point?
